Job Fair 2009

13/05/2009

AmCham has hosted the ninth edition of the Job Fair. This activity is unique in Albania, bringing an innovation to the labor market. The 2009 AmCham Job Fair opened in the presence of high government and business representatives who chose to be part of an important event in the Albanian labor market. Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha greeted the participants and gave maximum praise for the role played by the fair in finding jobs for young people. “Prime ministers in all countries are busy, but Prime Minister Berisha is particularly busy during this period, so I am very honored that we have him here with us today,” said AmCham President Philip Bay.

Prime Minister Berisha shared the same opinion as he spoke about the policies the government has undertaken to support businesses, including cutting taxes and implementing reforms in several sectors. Following his remarks, the prime minister met with representatives from all the companies that had opened their stands at the fair as well as applicants who had interviews lined up for the open positions.

Going beyond getting publicity for this year’s event, the AmCham Job Fair remains a unique opportunity to find work the right way in Albania. Looking to hire in this edition, there will be 21 companies recognized in the field of telecommunications, banking, construction, manufacturing and auditing which have 130 vacancies for positions as economist, financier, engineer, architect, technician and sales operator. At its beginnings the fair offered mostly jobs for new graduates, but increasing interest by companies has meant that high-level positions are now available as well. Through the fair, large companies want to hire financial economists, architects, lawyers and engineers who are to be entrusted with the business plans. This makes a good presentation with a dignified and rich resume even more important as the competition is high. The meeting between employers and employees during the two days of fair indicates the needs of companies for workers, the most preferred professions and how prepared professional workers are for these positions.
