The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania has organized the Support Group of the SIFE Albania team, and a visit in Singapore and Malaysia 26 September - 3 October 2008

SIFE – Students in Free Enterprise, encourages students in creating business programs in support to the community where they live. The students will participate in an international competition, where participate companies from all over the world. In these activities a stand will be set up for each of the participant country.

The University of Shkodra team that won the first prize in Albania’s National SIFE Championship represented Albania in the SIFE World Championship organized in Singapore. Albania participated among 41 countries coming from across the globe.

During competition, the Albanian team presented four business projects which were rated very well by the jury and received very positive comments by the people present at the competition.

Due to a serious preparation and very good presentations by the students from Shkodra, Albania has reached the semi final.

The four projects which Albania presented in the championship were about the development of the artisan tradition in Shkodra, the development of tourism in the mountain regions, training small business on fiscal policies, and most important, finding the most economic and efficient way for packing milk products from domestic live stock.

There were also three Albanian jurors at the event: Floreta Faber, Genc Boga and Vasil Naci. They said the jury as a whole had really valued the performance of the Albanian group, saying their presentation level was high.

The Shkodra team that represented Albania in the largest SIFE world tournament was not alone in Singapore. Ten Albanian businesspeople, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce, supported the team morally and financially, accompanying it during the presentations in Singapore.

The organization of a group of businessmen from the American Chamber of Commerce to accompany the winning team in the SIFE World Championship had not only the purpose of presentation in the championship, but also a tour in the developed countries of the Asian continent like Malaya and Singapore. Businessmen had the chance to know from close markets and priorities of relations with Asian countries, and what offer these countries in development.
