Piracy and copyright infringement continue to harm several of Albania’s most important industries, which despite being protected by law can not escape copyright theft from dishonest competitors.

The AmCham Intellectual Rights Committee, after taking into consideration continued concerns by member businesses, has decided to organize a conference on copyright.

The conference would deal with copyright issues faced by different sectors of the economy and would have representatives of several institutions attending. Representatives of the diplomatic and international institutions would be key speakers at the conference.

Committee members want the conference to come up with clear ideas on what AmCham would ask state authorities to change in how copyright and intellectual property are protected in Albania.

Those attending the IPR Committee meeting came up with various ideas for a media campaign that would help publicize the issue. The media campaign would precede the conference.

The AmCham IPR Committee decided to keep working on the idea to come up next with a concrete plan for the conference.
