The Bank of Albania has made public the information “Bank of Albania’s Response to COVID-19”, on the measures taken by the Bank of Albania to mitigate the effects on the economy and financial markets from the Covid-19 pandemic. Banka e Shqipërisë ka bërë publik informacionin “Përgjigjja e Bankës së Shqipërisë ndaj COVID-19”, mbi masat e marra nga Banka e Shqipërisë për zbutjen e efekteve në ekonomi dhe në tregjet financiare nga pandemia Covid-19. Përgjigjet kanë qenë në të gjitha fushat, si politika monetare, mbështetja ndaj qytetarëve, furnizimi me para fizike etj.

On 18 May, Albania’s bars and restaurants will reopen but with strict social distancing guidelines in place. According to a Facebook post from Prime Minister Edi Rama, such businesses will be allowed to open until 5:30 pm and only the outside areas can be used. Më 18 maj, baret dhe restorantet në Shqipëri do të rihapen por me udhëzime të rrepta për distancimin shoqëror. Sipas një postimi në Facebook nga Kryeministri Edi Rama, bizneset e tilla do të lejohen të hapen deri në orën 17:30 dhe vetëm zonat e jashtme mund të përdoren. Pronarët dhe klientët duhet të respektojnë kërkesat e distancimit shoqëror dhe higjenës.

Some 250 employees of state oil company Albpetrol have protested today to oppose the reduction of prisoners and the dismissal of colleagues. Workers at the Fier oil field say they have been at work every day, in difficult conditions and even in the absence of public transport. They said it is unfair to decrease their wages by as much as 60%, despite them working 16-hour days.
