Date/Time: 10.10.2019 / 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Location: Xheko Imperial Hotel
The “Back to Work” event brought together members who after the summer holidays return to work fully energized back to their businesses. This network event had in the background, photos of Americans living in Albania after World War I.
AmCham President, Mr. Enio Jaço, during his speech welcomed members and appreciated the forms of collaboration and networking that AmCham provides, and Back to Work, is one of those formats that better serves to this purpose. In his communication with members, Mr. Jaço emphasized that AmCham is working to develop an ambitious program that will serve to the professional development of members. Another interesting element of this activity was the exhibition of old photos that evoke the relationships with Americans and date back to 1918-1920. The Albanian-American historian, Mr. Auron Tare, spoke about the origins and the history of photos and brought details of Americans’ activity in Albania during that time.
During the World War I, a group of Americans came to Albania to logistically assist their army stationed in Korça. After the war in 1918, some of them did not leave but remained in Albania and were located in Tirana, where they opened the orphanage for children. During their journey in Albania, they have taken photos from their activities and these rare photos, unexplored before, appeared for the first time in the networking event organized by the American Chamber.
